  • SYMBOLISM: In the beginning of the story, Lennie focuses on rabbits. This represents his DREAM. ALL HE WANTS TO DO IS TEND THE RABBITS. He is always afraid of losing his dream.

  • FORESHADOWING: In the beginning George and Lennie are on their way to the land and George tells Lennie that if he gets in touble to meet me in the bushes.
  • ch.3
  • CHARACTERIZATION: In chapter two of the story Curly is introduced.He shows his character when he starts to pick on Lennie.
  • ch.3
  • FORESHADOWING: George tells Lennie to stay away from Curly indicating that there might be a problem with them.
  • SYMBOLISM: Curly and Lennie get into a fight and Lennie sits there and takes it all because he doesn't wanna get into any trouble.
  • CHARACTERIZATION: Lennie smashes Curly's hand and everyone says if he gets Lennie fired that they'll tell what happened and he says okay because he doesn't want anyone to know he lost.
