Years ago, there was a sixteen year old boy who was different from all the villagers. They thought he would cause an unbalance to their peaceful village.
They didn't have anything harmful around them, so they used rocks that were in a pile made by children earlier in the day to tease and throw at the boy.
Some people defended him, and those people were chosen through putting their names in a box and whoever's name was chosen would sacrifice their life for defending the boy.
years later... It was a warm, sunny day and you can hear the children's laughter as they gathered stones into a pile.
Then when it was time, everyone started to gather for the lottery, everyone was filled with anxiety and hope.
In in the end, with many protests and complaints, Tess Hutchinson "wins the lottery" or pulls the slip of paper with a black circle on it.
