Theseus sails to Crete from Athens, willing to sacrifice himself to the Minotaur (while also vowing to kill it) to save anymore people from become food for the beast.
"I will go first!" Theseus demands after Minos is finished taunting the tributes.
Minos ' daughter Ariadne was behind her father, listening to him goad but saw Theseus and decided to help him by giving him string to find his way back out of the labyrinth.
As Theseus walked through the pitch darkness, he came across the Minotaur. As doing so, he dropped the string on accident and got lifteds into the air by it's beastly horns. But,
Theseus leaves with the princess unto his ship and later stops on an island to "gather fresh water."
After the princess is out of his sight, he sails away from the island, leaving her on it
Theseus forgets to change his sails to white, meaning he's still alive, on his return to his castle in which Theseus's father thinks he is dead. This causes King Aegean to be in great despair and throws himself off the cliff.
