Settlers from the north and the south come to an undeveloped Kansas territory.
The north and south both crucially needed Kansas to become part of their territory in the fight over slavery; and if it was right or not.
The legislation of Kansas fought over if the state would be pro-slave or a free- slave state.
Many people died while fighting over whether or not Kansas would be a slave state as the addition of Kansas to either side would result in a great advantage.
The fight over Kansas led to the death and fighting between many Americans and therefore was labeled as "Bleeding Kansas"
The state of Kansas ended up being a free-slave state, after the Civil War concluded.
