  • Oh no! Those gunshots made me drop my pipe. I have to get it!
  • It's the after noon! I am so hungry, I must go find those men, because where there are men, there is food.
  • "Don't be alarmed, I'm not a robber. I fell off a yacht. My name is Sanger Rainsford of New York City."
  • In the beginning, Rainsford makes it clear that he does not care for the animals he kills for sport. He thinks that they have no feelings and are the huntees, where as he is the hunter. Rainsford only thinks of animals for his own personal gain.
  • You see Mr. Rainsford, I hunt the most dangerous game, humans!
  • You're insane! That's murder!
  • After falling of his yacht, Rainsford uses his survival skills to swim to the island from where he heard the gunshots. Then, driven by hunger, he goes to find the people who fired those shots.
  • "Nerve, nerve, nerve!"
  • Rainsford must be near. He is indeed skillful, but now I need a new assistant.
  • Rainsford soon finds a lone chateau on the island. A man with a revolver points his gun at Rainsford. Remaining calm, Rainsford says who he is and what happened to him. He is cool and collected, even in the when looking down the barrel of a gun.
  • "I congradutale you, You have won the game."
  • "I am still a beast at bay. Get ready, General Zaroff."
  • The chateau belongs to a great hunter by the name of General Zaroff. He explains to Rainsford that he has become board hunting animals, and instead hunts humans. Rainsford reacts with fear of General Zaroff and voices his strong disapproval of this sort of killing.
  • Rainsford ends up being hunted by the general. While on the run, Rainsford uses his hunting skills to avoid Zaroff. With this he ends up killing one of Zaroff's hounds and his assistant Ivan. He killed a man, the same thing he condemned Zaroff for doing earlier.
  • Rainsford eventually makes his way back into the chateau and confronts an unarmed Zaroff. With anger and rage building inside him, Rainsford kills General Zaroff. The experience obviously made Rainsford a more vicious and dangerous man.
