Storyboard Text

  • Grandpa, you never explained to me the cause of the Cold War. Tomorrow I have a presentation on the topic so this could be very helpful.
  • It is very last minute that you are asking as there are many causes that led to the event.
  • You must know a lot as you were already 40 years old when this happened.
  • Of course, I will tell you about it when we come home
  • Now that we are home, please start!
  • We can start with the Iron Curtain Speech that you should include in your presentation because it was one of the first events that started to create tensions between the USA and USSR
  • It was given by the British Primer Minister Churchill.  And it was basically dividing Europe into two separate areas. This speech said that many countries of Europe were to have Soviet influence. This was a threat to the United States as they wanted to prevent the rise of Communist governments.
  • ...all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in what I must call the Soviet sphere, and all are subject, in one form or another, not only to Soviet influence but to a very high and in some cases increasing measure of control from Moscow.
  • Oh!  I can feel the tension
  • You should also talk about the Marshall plan!  This plan as you might have read claimed that Europe couldn't afford foreign essential products without suffering social and economic consequences. It states that without the United States being able to assist the world, there would be no political stability and assured peace.
  • Our policy is directed not against any country or doctrine but against hunger, poverty, desperation, and chaos.
  • It's starting to get late, I promised to help your mom with the cooking
  • Nooo! Everything that you are teaching me is very helpful, please continue!
