Fleance and Banquo see Macbeth in the hallway late at night in the Macbeth's castle. They are surprised that he is awake but mention that the king is sleeping. They start to discuss about the witches then decide it can wait for another time. Banquo and Fleance leave.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth made a plan to murder Duncan while he sleeps. She will ring a bell three times to reassure Macbeth the guards are drunk and he can do the deed. However, before it even starts he hallucinates about seeing a floating dagger.
Seeing the dagger makes Macbeth feel nervous about the whole plan but Lady Macbeth gives the signal and he kills Duncan. He was so nervous that he brings the knives back with himself.
Lady Macbeth is angry that he brought the weapon and takes them back. Macbeth is feeling very guilty about killing Duncan.
There is knocking on the gate so the porter goes to open the door. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth pretend they are sleeping.
Ross & Old Man
Macduff found Duncan dead in his bed and Macbeth and Lady Macbeth pretended they were upset. The next day Ross and an Old man talk about the rough night.
