If they continue they will threaten the freshwater turtles of California and other native species
Turtles can cause Salmonella and in March 2013 400 people had salmonella and 70% of them were in contact with Turtles. If red eared sliders spread these numbers could rise.
One thing we need to do to stop the red eared sliders is to stop using them as pets because they could easily spread. We also need to stop roadside stands that sell the turtles.
BUY RED EARED SLIDERS
Red eared sliders are now in 23 more states than they are native to.
In order to stop these turtles we must prevent them from being released in the wild. We also must use hunting and capturing.
