Leroy "Satchel" Paige
Age is mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter
Satchel Paige was born July 7,1906, in Mobile, Alabama. He was seventh of twelve kids. Satchel Paige had gotten his nickname one day from carrying luggage at the train station. He rigged a pole so that he could carry more bags and someone he looked like a satchel tree.
Satchel Paige was the showman of the Negro Leagues. He debuted in the MLB at the age of 42 which was by far the oldest. Satchel become the first African American to pitch and win in a World Series. He retired at the age of 59 and after long discussion he was entered in the Hall if Fame.
Black or White, Satchel could bring in a crowd of every color. Satchel could even get the crowd to chant his name while pitching a shutout. His numbers in the MLB to not do him justice to what a legend he was. He has just about every pitching record in the Negro Leagues .
