General Mcdowell took 35000 union troops to the battle while the Confederates who were led by general P.G.T Beauregard took 20000 The confederates won this battle by breaking through the union's right flank.The victory gave the confederates hope and confidence.
April 6-7 1862 Battle of Shiloh This battle happened in south west Tennessee when the confederates soldiers surprised attacked Ulysses S .Grant and his regiment. But the Union fought back and ended up winning the battle by pushing the confederate soldiers back. This battle had a lot of casualties and hurt both armies very bad.There was a total of 23000 casualties.
September 17 1862 Battle of Antietam This battle happened around Antietam Creek in Sharpsburg in Maryland. Union General Robert E. Lee and Confederate General George Mcclellan faced off at Antietam creek. Although the battle was undetermined who won the Union had the advantage over them. This battle was the most bloodiest day of the war with over 22000 categories in a day.
