  • Boston Tea Party
  • Intolerable Acts
  • Thanks for letting me sleep here, even though you had no choice! 
  • This is upsetting.
  • Boston Massacre
  • In retaliation to the Tea Act, the Bostonians dumped Tea in the harbor, creating the "Boston Tea Party"
  • Troops Arrive in Boston
  • Britain responds with the Intolerable Acts, which meant Boston Harbor was closed, state governments were closed, all court cases against officials were sent to English courts, and the Quartering Act. The Quartering Act (pictured here) said colonists had to house soldiers whenever the soldiers wanted. This was upsetting.
  • First Continental Congress
  • After a riot broke out in Boston surrounding the Intolerable Acts, the Boston Massacre was when soldiers fired into a crowd of American Colonists, killing 4 people. The news of this event spread far and wide, building up the desire for Revolution.
  • Declaration of Independence
  • With the tensions ins Boston, more British troops come across the Atlantic Ocean. This, of course, only heightens tensions
  • 56 Delegates meet, debate options on handling their situation with the British. They lay out a way to repeal the Intolerable Acts, which England later attempts to agree with before the Declaration of Independence is official.
  • The founding fathers create a document, the Declaration of Independence, that declares the United States its own country, separate from England, sparking a revolution
