  • Ordinary world
  • Call to Adventure
  • Refusal of the call
  • Merida a princess of a Scottish clan; with her brothers, mother and father. Her life is boring and simple, she is sometimes dismissed because she's a women in a mainly male society; even though shes a tomboy. The queen and king both have gold accents on their clothes which show cases their royalty.
  • Crossing the Threshold
  • Merida gets her call to adventure when her mother informs her that men from three other clans are competing to marry her. She doesn't agree with her mom and doesn't like the idea of being objectified. In this scene the queen wears purple which represents her royalty in front of the other clans.
  • The Ordeal
  • Merida refuses the call (getting married) by running away to a witch. This witch ends up giving her a cake that would make her mom see eye to eye with her. In the movie the witch wears dark green which represents death and evil; even though she did kill any one she still is conniving and has an evil aura.
  • The road back
  • Merida crosses the threshold when she leaves the castle and goes into the forest to find a way to save her mother. Merida wears blue unlike her family because even if she caused a problem she would be the one to bring peace in the end.
  • Merida experiences her near death experience when she is in a mystical cave and meats the black bear who terrorized the colony many years back.
  • The road back is when Merida saves her mother from from her father, and turns her back into a herself. They also end up returning to the castle.
