Storyboard Text

  • T-Title
  • P-Paraphrase
  • You aren't allowed here, go to the kitchen!
  • *laughs*
  • C-Connotation
  • I, too, am an American. We are all the same. |Andrea Kinneer|
  • A-Attitude
  • You aren't allowed here, go to the kitchen!
  • No, I'm an American too!
  • I am of black race, they want me to dine in the kitchen when people come over. All I'll do is laugh and eat well to grow strong. The next day, I'll be sitting at the table, I won't let anybody tell me to eat somewhere else. Because after all, I too, am American.
  • S-Shift
  • You aren't allowed here, go to the kitchen!
  • *laughs* No, I eat where I please!
  • Metaphor: "I am the darker brother" means that the person is describing himself as an African American. When the person says 'brother', they are identifying as a child and believer of God and is a brother to other believers of God.
  • T-Theme
  • I believe the attitude/tone can be taken as determination.
  • Shift: But I laugh, And eat well, And grow strong.
  • We are all the same breathing creature so we shouldn't be treated any differently.
