  • Just lost a good business man.
  • Scrooge does not think of Marley, his old business partner, as a friend, but as a piece of importance in the plans that Scrooge has with making the most money he could possibly make. He is upset because that he lost a business partner by death, not thinking of him as a friend.
  • I suppose we can make a party and have lunch to celebrate him leaving and going somewhere.
  • AS long as there is lunch involved
  • People who worked with Scrooge don't care about him when he dies. When Scrooge sees this he wants to change what he has done so he can apologize for his actions to them.

  • Merry Christmas!
  • Symbolism
  • It is Christmas eve and two people have to work than being with their family because they are poor and need the money. They are showing the Christmas spirit through them being nice and happy even though they are working.
  • Marley's chains show all the bad things he has done in his life and hasn't helped anyone in his life. The chains were created from his attitude towards other people and being greedy.
  • Symbolism
  • These chains hold me down!
  • Internal conflict
  • Scrooge wants to have a life with Belle and have children with her; to have a family with her. But greed took over his mind making him not care for Belle.

  • Get out of my sight I don't want to donate money! They should die if they don't want to go to the establishments!
  • Scrooge doesn't want to give money for the poor because he is a greedy man. This characterizes Scrooge and make him cruel and think money is the only success in life.
