Big Brother is always watching through Telescreens. Nothing is secret, everything is seen. everyone is being watched 24/7.
"Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past"
Winston writes in his diary, he hides from the Telescreens. The lay out of his room allows a corner to be hidden from the Telescreens.
Daily period where propaganda is displayed to everyone. The 2 minute hate is where everyone expresses their hatred. The 2 minute hate is where every expresses similar feeling, which promotes a sense of individuality.
The party uses false history to control the people, because the party wants the people to encourage the past. No one is allowed to keep memories from the past, because the present is constantly changing the past. Only proles have an idea of the past; however the truth of the past, dies with the proles' memory.
The dark hair girl falls and Winston helps her up, but she slips him a note to Winston. The note read " I love you." Winston has always believed that she was a political spy. They later meet in Victory Square to avoid the Telescreens.
Winston meets with the dark haired girl at Victory Square. The dark-haired girl gives Winston directions to meet later in the country-side.
