Storyboard Text

  • Can my son and I stay in your village?
  • A long time ago, the gods Thunder and Lightning, who were mother and son, lived in harmony with humans. They lived in a large village that housed many people in small huts. Thunder and Lightning agreed to bow under the rule of the people’s king, Aurelio.
  • Of course! I love your voice. You can become our protector.
  • I don't like your robes.
  • The people loved Thunder and how she was able to keep order with her loud, booming voice. She kept the peace by giving the people certain jobs. Meanwhile, Lightning was causing trouble around the village.
  • The women will care for the home and children while the men hunt and protect their family.
  • Aurelio heard about Lightning causing trouble around the village. So the king recruited a young man from the village to enact his plan. Unknown to both the king and Teo, Thunder had heard the plot and warned Lightning.
  • I need to warn Lightning, my poor son.
  • We need to figure out how to get rid of lightning, without losing Thunder too.
  • My king, I will kill him for you. He is causing too much mischief.
  • How dare the humans try to kill me! I will kill them all!!
  • Lightning was furious! His words frightened Thunder. She loved the humans. Thunder knew that she would have to choose where her loyalties lied, and fast.
  • We need to leave! There is a man that is going to try to kill you!
  • No you will not! I banish you to the skies!
  • After Thunder banished her son to the sky, she was devastated. But King Aurelio had never been happier. Thunder thrust her arm up toward the sky, and a second later was gone. She joined her son in the sky, and the people were glad to have gotten rid of Lightning.
  • Thank you for banishing your horrid son! We hated him, but we hope you will stay with us!
  • Your plan to get rid of my son was foolish. You can't have thunder without lightning.
  • But things did not work out as well as they hoped, because even in the sky, Lightning still had quite the temper and can’t resist sending fire down to the earth to alleviate his anger. Yet soon after each strike, you can hear his mother Thunder reprimanding his actions in her booming voice.
  • I'm so angry!
