  • Rising Action
  • Yes; to my long home - my last home.
  • At around 11:00 Jane was unable to go to sleep. Jane quietly go up[ out of bed and set off to Miss Temple's room. Jane used the of the unclouded summer moon to find her way to Miss Temple's room. Jane passed the fever-room quickly, fearful the nurse that stays up all night would hear her. Jane was in fear of being caught and sent back before she got to see Helen.
  • Climax
  • Helen is battling an illness that most of the girls have at Lowood. She is coughing very hard which leads her to be very tired. Her forehead and cheeks are very cold.
  • Falling Action
  • Jane sees the nurse next to Helen's bed and starts to quietly walk toward Helen. Jane reaches Helen's crib and is reluctant to open the curtain because she is afraid she will see the corpse of Helen. Jane then calls out Helen's name very quietly.
  • Resolution
  • Jane and Helen start to talk. They talk about their life and where they will go after they pass away. Helen then tells Jane to climb into bed so her feet don't freeze. Jane and Helen lay next to each other for a few minutes. Helen then starts thanking Jane and telling her to not grieve when she finds out that Helen has died.
  • Are you going somewhere, Helen? Are you going home?
  • Helen is very tired from the last time she coughed. Helen tells Jane to stay so she does. They soon tell each other goodnight and drift off to sleep. When Jane wakes up she is in the nurse's arms being carried to the dormitory. A few days later Miss Temple, returning to her room at dawn found Jane's face on Helen's shoulder. Jane was asleep, and Helen was dead.
  • After Helen's death Jane had to learn how to do things by herself and become independent. Jane learned so many lessons from Helen since they first met. For example, Helen told Jane to not just look at the moment she's in but to look at the bigger picture and from that moment Jane took and endured her punishments without fighting.
