  • We get introduced to the narrator a writer .and a hitchhiker also we discover the setting is on a long June day, in the year 1970 on a road in England. they are on there way to London (city)
  • Rising Action 2
  • Roald is driving on his way to London on a June day. In his brand new BMW 3.3 ,when he sees a man on the road .(he always stops for hitchhikers so he ,picks up the and asked where you going London horse race hop on  man witch has a very ratty face, and grey teeth . His eyes  were dark and quick like a rats . Roald asked him questions like what his job is and he says he has the greatest  most fantastic job ever.  
  • Climax 
  • the hitchhiker is listening to Roald go on about his new car that can go  ''apparently'' very fast so they put it to the test the hitchhiker taunts Roald and they start going as fast as one can go in a BMW .Until they hear the big sirens of the English police. 
  • Falling Action
  • Roald and the hitchhiker get pulled over and Roald is given a ticket and the hitchhiker is asked information that he is not so pleases with he says that  he is a worker the carries up paint would and such onto peoples ladders which sparks an interest in Roald because earlier he had told him that he had the worlds most amazing fantastic job 
  • Roald discovers the hitchhikers job he is a finger smith or as people know a top of the line pickpocket .He shows Roald all the things he has taken from him including his wife's ring his belt a shoelace and a cigarette. 
  • The hitchhiker tells Roald why he is going to the horse race . He says that's where the big fish go his ''customers''
