  • The  founding fathers established it in the constitution as a compromise between election of the president by a vote in congress and election of the president by a popular vote of qualified citizens.

  • The division of the legislative, executive & judicial function of government among separate and independent bodies.

  • Chief justice
  • This branch is made up of two people, the house of representative and the senate. They are responsible for creating the laws, passing the laws, impeaching officials, approving treaties, and originating spending bills.
  • This branch is made up of the president, vice president, the cabinet, executive departments, independent agencies,and other boards & committees. They are responsible for enforcing the laws that are created by the legislative branch.
  • This branch includes the members of the supreme court, they are also known as justices. They are appointed by the president and confirmed by the senate. They are responsible for interpreting and applying the law in the name of the state. They also provide a mechanism for the resolution of disputes.
