  • CAPTAIN!!!
  • Hello Mrs. Keller
  • Hello Miss Sullivan
  • You little devil
  • In this part of the book, Helen's mom Kate finds out Helen is blind and deaf. She finds this out by snapping and screaming in front of Helen's face . She notices that Helen doesn't flinch at all. Then Kate calls for Helen's father, captain Keller.
  • Get back here Helen!!!
  • In this part of the book, Kate meets Helen's teacher Annie Sullivan. When Annie gets off the train, Kate studies her face. Annie states her three advantages to teaching Helen . When Annie mentions her three advantages Kate finds out that Annie had once been blind.
  • Where are you taking her?
  • To refill this pitcher.
  • In this scene Helen hits Annie in the face with her doll and locks Annie in her room. This scene shows that Helen doesn't want to be taught by Annie. Captain Keller had to get Annie down from her room with a ladder. Helen thinks everyone went inside and takes the key out of her mouth and drops it in the well while Annie is secretly watching. Helen is happy with herself.
  • Wah Wah
  • During breakfast Annie is not accustomed to Helen touching her food so she grabs her hand and tells everyone to get out of the room. Annie is trying to make Helen sit down but Helen keeps getting up and running away. Annie keeps getting her and putting her back in her seat. When Helen gives up Annie keeps giving her spoons but Helen keeps throwing them. Then finally Annie grips the spoon in Helen's hand, makes her eat with it and folds her napkin.
  • Helen comes home after spending two weeks living in the garden house with Annie. Helen was testing her parents by behaving badly. She kept throwing her napkin on the floor and being rude. Helen takes the water pitcher and splashes Annie with it . Annie then takes Helen out to the pump to refill the pitcher.
  • When Annie takes Helen out to refill the pitcher, Helen touches the water and remembers it from when she was a few months old . When Helen remembers the water she says "wah wah". Then Helen goes around touching things and putting out her hand and waiting for Annie to spell into it. Annie yells for Kate to come outside and see what Annie is doing.
