  • Marian Anderson was born on February 27, 1897. When she was only a little girl she would preform in courier in church in front of the whole town.Also, she was so successful her choir raised $500 for voice school.
  • Anderson was invited to the White House by Mr. and Ms. Roosevelt to preform. She was the First African American Woman to receive this honor.
  • Anderson had won a contest to sing in New York City at the Philharmonic Society. She preformed the National Anthem, and she won the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
