I was just a normal rock, sitting under a tree, then I started to sink underground. Soil was put on top of me and the pressure above pushed me down.
I ended up deeper in the Earth's crust, with the bottom of the tree's roots. The pressure from above, and the heat from down below transformed me into a metamorphic rock.
The tree above me was cut down and strong winds from the east weathered the dirt from above me. Weather comes from the heat of the sun, did you know? Then water eroded the rest of the ground, and I was pulled into the strong current of the river.
When I was in the river, I was eroded down to sediments. The river brought me down into the ocean. In the water, I started to compact and cement. People call this process, compaction and cementation.
After a while, I became a layer of rock. I was transformed from metamorphic to sedimentary rock. It got pushed down farther into the Earth and I melted into a magma pool. Did you know that magma is the same thing as lava, but it's underground.
As you can see, I am now apart of a magma pool. When the pressure is high enough, the volcano can explode! Its getting pretty hot in here... It's getting really hot in here... Its getting really REALLY hot in here...
