Beowulf and his men reach the front of the cave to challenge the dragon to make peace for the people.
The dragon appears and Beowulf begins to fight when the dragon blew fire from his breath, leaving Beowulf severely injured.
Beowulf's men retreated with the exception of Wiglaf whom answered Beowulf's need for help.
Wiglaf stabbed the dragon with his sword and Beowulf cut the dragon with his knife, which killed the dragon.
Beowulf asked Wiglaf to build a tomb and to burry the dragon's treasure next to his ashes, then Beowulf passed away; leaving Wiglaf as the new King of Herot.
Wiglaf returned to Herot, put those who retreated into shame then buried Beowulf with the dragon's treasure with the temple above his grave.
