It’s Juliet’s first day at her new high school, she was very nervous because she didn’t know anybody there . Her parents had gotten a divorce, which caused her and her mother to move to North Carolina . When she walked into her first block, the first person she saw was Romeo. Once she had seen him, she found it nearly impossible to take her eyes off of him . She sat right beside him . Romeo looked over to see one of the most beautiful girls he had ever laid his eyes on . He leaned over to his cousin, Benvolio, and whispered “What lady’s that, which doth enrich the hand / of yonder knight ?” (p. 201 ll. 39-40) . Benvolio, told Romeo that he shouldn’t be interested in a girl like Juliet because of her color . Romeo refused to let that get in the way of his love . During lunch, Romeo and Juliet talked endlessly about everything they could . They knew right away that they had found true love . After school, Romeo took Juliet to meet his parents . He knew that this would be an issue because his parents didn’t want him to date a woman of color . He explained to Juliet that his parents weren’t racist, but they just didn’t want him to be with her because of her color . “Go then for tis in vain .” (p. 208 ll. 42) .
After meeting with his parents, Juliet knew there was no way she could be with Romeo without his parents having a say in it . “For stony limits cannot hold love out, / and what love can do that dares love attempt .” (p. 210-211 ll. 67-68) . Later that night, Romeo wanted to talk to Juliet about their relationship and how they were going to continue dating without his parents knowing . Romeo snuck out of the house and picked Juliet up to take her out to a midnight diner . Romeo had come up with a plan that they would secretly marry . “The exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine .” (p. 212 l. 127) . Romeo would find a girl to pretend to date, so his parents would be happy and hopefully forget about Juliet . The following weekend, Romeo and Juliet decided to go to the courthouse to officially get married . “My love as deep; the more I give to thee, / The more I have, for both are infinite.” (p. 212 ll. 133-134) . After the wedding, Romeo told Juliet that he would found a someone to “replace” her . He wanted each other to meet so they would know and understand the plan clearly . The girl’s name was Rosaline and she was the total opposite of Juliet . Juliet looked at Rosaline as if she had been replaced permanently . She knew as soon as his parents met her there would be no more of Juliet .
A few days after that, Romeo and Rosaline went on a date . They were having a great time until, Rosaline kissed Romeo . He told Rosaline that he was going to tell Juliet what she had done . He left the date and went straight to Juliet’s house . After the date, Rosaline was so upset and so sacred that she told Romeo’s parents about their whole plan . His parents were very upset that Romeo would disobey them . While at Juliet’s house, Romeo had to tell her what Rosaline did and that he had no part in it . After he told Juliet, she wasn’t mad, she was upset . She knew that sooner or later Rosaline was going to take her place . She knew she had to do something before it was too late . Rosaline came over Juliet’s house to tell them that she told on them . Out of anger, Juliet took a knife to stab and kill Rosaline . Romeo was upset because his parents knew about him and Juliet . Later on that night, Romeo took a knife and killed himself . Juliet couldn’t believe that he’d do something like that . She was very heartbroken and she couldn’t see how she could live without him . She took the same knife that took Romeo’s life and killed herself . “A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life .” (p. 190 l. 6)
