In the beginning, it was Bear who owned Fire. It warmed Bear and his people, and it gave them light when it was dark. They carried Fire wherever they went.
One day, Bear and his people came to a great forest, where they found many acorns on the ground. Bear set Fire at the edge of the forest while they were eating acorns.
They wandered further and further away from Fire. They kept looking for more acorns when the supply went low. Fire kept blazing happily.
Feed me! Feed me!
Fire burned until almost all of its wood burned out. It dwindled down fast. Fire shouted out to Bear, but Bear was too far away.
I eat sticks and logs and woods of all kinds.
When Fire was shouting out, Man came walking through the forest. Man had never seen Fire before. Man picked up a stick and leaned it against Fire.
What should I feed you?
Man kept feeding Fire sticks. Fire was leaping and dancing in delight. Man warmed himself with Fire. Man and Fire were very happy together. Bear tried finding Fire again but could not find him. Fire belonged to Man now.
