  • Act 3 Scene 1 -Banquo's Thoughts-
  • Banquo, Scottish nobleman and friend of Macbeth is outside the castle, waiting to ride with his royal highness. Whilst waiting, Banquo ponders on recent events, and mainly, the fulfilment of the witches prophecies.
  • ...I fear Thou played’st most foully for ’t
  • Act 3 Scene 1 Pre-Feast Discussion
  • Banquo has agreed to join the king in tonight's feast, but first he decides to go on a ride with his son, Fleance. ≈Lords and nobles seated in front of king≈
  • ≈Sennet sounded≈
  • Here’s our chief guest.
  • He must be killed!
  • After dismissing his loyal subjects, Macbeth leaves to meet with two murderers.
  • Act 3 Scene 1 -Dismissal of Nobles-
  • Let every man be master of his time Till seven at night. To make society The sweeter welcome, we will keep ourself Till suppertime alone. While then, God be with you!
  • Here Macbeth meets privately with two murderers, where they plot the assassination of Banquo and his son. Macbeth states that he is sick, and will only be healthy once they are dead.
  • Act 3 Scene 1 -The Murderers-
  • Both of you Know Banquo was your enemy.
  • Well i'll do it for the pay
  •  True, my lord.
  • Act 3 Scene 2 -The Plan-
  • Macbeth expresses his concern about Banquo to his wife, and admits that he is planning a horrible deed. Macbeth chooses to withhold the details from her, so she can congratulate him later.
  • I must prove to her that I am a real man.
  • Act 3 Scene 3 -Assasination-
  • As the murderers strike, Banquo is taken by surprise and is swiftly killed. Less fortunately for the murderers, Fleance manages to flee into the safety of the forest.
  • Get out of here, good Fleance, run, run, run! Someday you can get revenge.—Oh, you bastard!
