  • "I've never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old, now, But I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon hiding in towers dares to face me." Beowulf was determined to beat the dragon, until now he was still alive after all the battles, he knew he could take on the dragon.
  • Beowulf had a feeling that his destiny was sealed when the dragon breathed out fire. He knew he was going to lose the battle. It all finally caught up to him. He knew it was over.
  • "Flames beat at the iron shield, and for a time it held, protected Beowulf as he planned; then it began to melt." The shield protected Beowulf but ultimately failed him. He knew he had lost this battle, he was now facing death and it was a him to see the fire that was hurled towards him.
  • The dragon came at Beowulf and overpowered him with flames. Beowulf seeking fame, was his ultimate enemy as now he was facing death. He was brave but the dragon was too much for him as now his biggest friend became his enemy, as seeking fame led to Beowulf's demise.
  • Beowulf was able to stab the dragon, and then the dragon and ultimately kill it. But minute by minute Beowulf was slowly dying. Wiglaf the son of Wexstan kept Beowulf company until Beowulf ultimately died right in front of his eyes.
  • "Take what I leave Wiglaf, lead my people and help them. My time is gone. Have the Geats build me a tomb."
