  • THOMAS IN THE CAGE
  • THOMAS'S APPEARANCE
  • THOMAS GOING TO THE MAZE
  • DON'T GO! DON'T YOU DARE!
  • In the first few pages in,"The Maze Runner," Thomas was mentioned when he woke up in a moving box. Thomas is one of the main character or protagonist that was dynamic throughout the story. He was inside the cage and was extremely confused and frightened. The box he was put in was moving upward to a place Thomas would have never expected.
  • Welcome to the Glade
  • Where am I?
  • There wasn't much information on how Thomas looked, but I used the movie as my reference. Thomas had dark brown hair and pale skin. He looked like he was about 16 or 17 yers old. Since new Gladers don't remember anything, Thomas had no clue where he got his clothes. In the text it states,"...klunk in a T-shirt."(Dashner3). This quote explains that when Thomas came to the Glade, he was wearing regular clothing such as a T-shirt.
  • GLADERS HAVING A MEETING ABOUT ESCAPING THE MAZE
  • We can solve the maze and escape. I have a plan, but its a dangerous one.
  • If I could describe Thomas in two words, it would be courageous and heroic. When both Minho and Alby needed help in the maze, Thomas was brave enough to go and try to save them. He was the only one dauntless enough to help. "...moved. Forward. He squeezed past the connecting rods...stepped into the maze."(Dashner 112). This quote explains that Thomas knew the dangers of the maze, but still stepped up to save his new friends.
  • In the beginning, Thomas came to the Glade, scared, nervous and curious. Thomas had no idea what was happening and all he remembered was his name. That scared him. In the text it states,"Where am I?..this is so frustrating.."(Dashner 6). This quote explains that Thomas was cautious about everything around him because he didn't know where he was. Trying to remember just frustrates him because he feels as if he has shelves full of knowledge, but all of the shelves are emptying.
  • THOMAS ARRIVING IN THE GLADE
  • Later on in the story, Thomas began to understand the Glade, Maze, and all the Gladers. Because of this, he became a more confident character. He was, at first, a frustrated and scared character, then became more bold. Thomas got stung by a creature and got some of his memory back. In the text it states,"..I remember enough..have a gathering.."(Dashner 300). This quote explains that Thomas knows a way out of the maze and he is confident in his idea. He wasn't able to do that in the beginning of the book.
  • Since Thomas is a dynamic character, his character trait changes throughout the book. After Thomas and a few other surviving Gladers escaped the Maze, Chuck, a very important kid to Thomas, died. Thomas became extremely sad and confused. In the text it states,"..heavy rain obscuring most of the view."(Dashner 365). This quote explains that Thomas and the other Gladers survived and now entering the Scorch Trials. Everybody else might be overjoyed, but Thomas is grieving over Chuck and remains throughout the end.
