  • Amelia Earheart was born in Atchison, Kansas on July 24,1897.
  • Amelia worked as a military nurse in Canada during World War 1. Amelia also worked as a social worker in the Denison House in Boston after the war.
  • Amelia moved often with her family. But when her parents heard that she wanted to fly a airplane they didn't approve. Amelia did it anyway.
  • In 1931 Amelia married George Palmer Putnam
  • Amelia became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. It was completed in the record time of 14 hours and 56 minutes.
  • Sadly, Amelia's plane crashed and her plane was never found. Amelia died on July 2, 1937.
