  • Santiago has a dream of finding treasure by the Egyptian pyramids (pg 5-6)
  • Zzzz...
  • The Gypsy interprets Santiago's dream (pg 14-17)
  • "First, you swear to me. Swear that you will give me one -tenth of the treasure, if you find it"
  • " I swear"
  • Santiago works for the merchant (pg 53)
  • "Maktub"
  • " I am leaving "
  • While sleeping inside of an abandoned church Santiago has a dream about finding treasure near the Egyptian pyramids. This moment is important because this is the predicament that makes him wonder if there is more to life then being a shepherd boy.
  • Santiago falls in love with Fatima (pg 98)
  • "If I am really a part of your dream, you'll come back one day"
  • "Love requires me to stay with the people I love"
  • This moment makes Santiago want to go in search for his treasure. It gives him hope that there really is treasure out by the Egyptian pyramids. He promises the gypsy one tenth of the treasure once in possession of it.
  • Santiago turns into wind (pg 157)
  • After being robbed by a thief in Tangiers, Santiago begins to work for a crystal merchant. He works at the crystal shop for almost a year and makes more then enough money to go on with his Personal Legend. This moment is important because the merchant tells him he had always dreamed of going to Mecca but didn't follow through with his dreams. His story motivates Santiago to go on with accomplishing his own Personal Legend.
  • Santiago finds his treasure (pg 170)
  • Santiago meets Fatima on the oasis in Al- Fayoum. He falls deeply in love with her and decides to give up on his personal legend just to be with her. She encourages him to keep on pursuing his Personal Legend. She tells him that she will wait for him. This moment is important because it makes him believe more in his Personal Legend.
  • With help from the desert, wind and sun, Santiago turns into wind. This moment is important because he proves to the alchemist that he is connecting with God himself. It also saves his life from the tribesman.
  • This moment is important because he went through all these obstacles just to find this treasure. He ends up finding the treasure in Spain by the church and sycamore tree from his days of being a shepherd. He realized God only wanted him to see the beauty of the pyramids and his Personal Legend.
  • " I'm coming, Fatima"
