Rainsford said, "You're a big game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a janguar feels?" (Connell 60)
The Most Dangerous Game
A while after, "He struggled up to the surface and tried to cry out, but the wash from the speeding yacht slapped him in the face and the salt water in his open mouth made him gag a little" (Connell 63).
General Zaroff challenged, "Your brain against mine. Your woodcraft against mine. Your strength and stamina against mine. Outdoor chess! And the stake is not without value, eh?" (Connell 74).
Later on during the battle, "Twenty feet below him the sea rumbled and hissed. Rainsford hesitated. He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea..." (Connell 80).
After the hardships of the battle, "The General sucked in his breath and smiled. 'I congratulate you,' he said. 'You have won the game"(Connell 80).
General Zaroff's said in his last words, "Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford...." (Connell 80). The theme was that you will never know what is really happening with someone until you see it from your perspective like rains ford with hunting the jaguar.
