Their Eyes Were Watching God
This storyboard does not have a description.
Janie is now in her forties when she returns to Eatonville. She was married three times. Everyone wants to know where she’s been. She tells her friend her story. She was forced to marry an older man with many acres by her grandmother. But she falls for a man named Joe. They went to a town called Eatonville. Joe became the mayor and bought a lot of land.
Janie starts to get upset with Joe more often because he’s over protective of her and doesn’t let her associate with her own town. He doesn’t like the way all the men in town look at her. Eventually, Janie gets tired of being told what to do and she confronts Joe. He then hits her and they grow apart. Joe ends up getting sick and he dies. Janie then inherits his money and everyone now wants Janie because of all the money she has. Janie then falls in love with a younger man named Tea Cake.
They move to the Everglades and they finally start living their life. Time passes and a big storm comes. Tea Cake refuses to leave while everyone else is already gone. Everything starts to flood and they try to wait the storm out but a big wave comes and sweeps out their house as wells as them. They get lost in the water and Janie can’t find Tea Cake. A dog comes out of nowhere and tries to attack Janie. Tea Cake comes from behind and tries to stop the dog but gets bit by the rabid dog.
They finally go back to town to help with the cleanup after the hurricane and Tea Cake was sick. Janie got a doctor to come see him and he says he wishes he would’ve gotten to him sooner. He leaves to go get the medicine he needs while Tea cake starts acting really strange. Janie finds a gun under his pillow where he sleeps and she takes out all the the bullets except for one because he was coming back. They lay down to go to sleep while she hears a horn outside and thinks its the doctor. When she returns Tea Cake has the gun and claims that she wants to leave him. Janie sees a second gun hidden in the wall so she grabs it while she tries to convince him that the sickness got to his head. He’s shot a couple time but they were blanks. Janie finally kills Tea Cake before he killed her.
Janie mourns his death and goes to her hometown while everyone looks at her and says they told her so. She goes into her home and tries to be in peace when her old friend comes in to talk to her. Her friend tells her that she looks good and Janie just dismisses her. Pheoby then tells her she used to look up to her and how everyone judges her for leaving when they turned out to be right. Janie then tells her everything that happened and Pheoby instantly apologizes saying that she will make sure that no one in town talks about her.
