  • The first official constitution in the U.S., ratified in 1781. It provided a system for the colonies by giving the central government no power over the states or citizens.
  • Articles of Confederation
  • A large assembly containing of US statesmen that drafted the United States Constitution in 1787
  • Constitutional Convention
  • An agreement between large and smaller states that disagreed with the legislative structure and representation of each state.
  • Connecticut Compromise
  • The US government would be divided in to three sectors executive,legislative, and judicial.

  • Run by the Supreme Court, its powers include interpreting the constitution and examining cases that involve states’ rights.
