  • In 1754, the English and the French both claimed the land around the Great Lakes and the Ohio River Valley.
  • William Pitt was put in charge of the British

  • In 1754, Benjamin Franklin expressed his ideas, that were accepted, in the Albany Congress.
  • British capture Quebec
  • In 1755, General Braddock got shot in the Battle of Fort Duquesne and died.

  • In 1757, William Pitt convinced the British to spend more money on the war. This helped, but it left England in debt.
  • In 1759, Quebec was taken over by British forces on the Plains of Abraham.
  • Quebec is now British territory.
  • In 1763, the British and the French signed the Treaty of Paris, which gave all of the French land in North America to the British.
