Charles is a 29 year old accountant for a small company Natalie is a 28 year old stay at home mom who has just found out she is pregnant. Elizabeth is their 3 year old daughter who likes to take dance classes The family goes out to a movie every weekend and they eat out every other night
Charles has just been laid-off from his job because his company merged with a larger one. They loose all the benefits they had with the company including health insurance. Luckily the company has unemployment insurance. But compared to the $7,000 per month he made before, the $2000 isn't going to cut it for the family.
By cutting eating out to once a month and Natalie learning to cook, not going to the movies and just staying home, and finding a cheaper studio for Elizabeth they can cut their expenses. But they still need Health Insurance.
Luckily, the family qualifies for Medicaid and the state offers full medicaid coverage. Medicaid provides health services such as early periodic screening, diagnosis and treatment for Elizabeth.
Medicaid also covers prenatal care, delivery, care for any complications during pregnancy and delivery and perinatal care for up to 60 days for postpartum depression for Natalie.
Eventually, Charles finds a new stable job with an accounting firm that pays $8,000 per month. The family is able to go back to they're previous life-style just in time to welcome their son, Riley, to the family.
