Storyboard Text

  • Turtle Wexler
  • Ouch! why did you kick me? BRAT!
  • Physical Description
  • Why hello there Angela and...um...you!
  • Intelligent
  • Sandy didn't drink. Sandy was sick. Sandy was quite clever.
  • Sam didn't drink Sam would be sick Sam was very clever.
  • Tabitha-Ruth(Turtle) Wexler is a misunderstood teenager that needs a better role model or in this case a new mom. When you have a bookie for a dad, a un-loving mother, and a perfect sister, growing up could be difficult. This might be the reason Turtle rubs off the wrong way on people and the reason she lashes out on others. "Touch her precious pigtail, even by accident , and she'll kick you in your shins , the brat."(Raskin 7).
  • Short-Tempered
  • If I win the inheritance everything I own will go to my amazing daughter,Angela.
  • Turtle would often be smirking at others in pain or when there upset. She would also be mad when others are happy and excited. Turtle would most likely be frowning or generally look angry. Despite being related, Turtle and her sister look very different. Turtle had dark hair that would always be in braids. Which made Angela the exact opposite, "Oh it's you."Mrs. Wexler always seemed surprised to see her other daughter,so unlike golden-haired ,angel-faced , Angela."(Raskin 10)
  • Clever
  • I know what our clues mean! Sam Westing even told us in his will! oh, he's good, but I am better.
  • Turtle is easily the smartest character in the novel "The Westing Game". Turtle can find details in the game or a case that would be overlooked or misunderstood, giving her advantages throughout the game. One example from the novel is when Turtle begins her own investigation. "But Sam Westing did not drink, you say. Neither did Sandy. I used his flask on Halloween and there was a funny after taste in my pop, but not whiskey. It was medicine." (Raskin 168).
  • Confident
  • "Hi there Alice," T R Wexler said,"Ready for game of chess."(Raskin 182)
  • Why is this?... BECAUSE THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON!
  • From the beginning of the novel Turtle has always been short-tempered. Anything that didn't go her way would cause her to freak out and become violent in some cases. Turtle also became angry when her mother would act like she didn't exist or wasn't worth mentioning. Turtle then often respond poorly , " She kicked the bed, kicked the chair , kicked the desk , and elbowed past the disapproving secretary."(Raskin 56)
  • After being away from her mother, Turtle focused all of her attention to figuring out her clues. Turtle had always been smart but instead of focusing on that, Turtle would focus on the insults her mother would give her or how she was treated in the family. But by the middle of the novel Turtle had become more clever, she understood Sam Westing , in fact , she was the new Sam Westing . In the novel it states, "Turtle not only looked like her uncle Sam ,she acted like him." (Raskin 159)
  • By the end of the novel we can see that Turtle had finally accepted herself and stopped listening to her rude mother. Turtle was confident, she knew that she could do anything she set her mind to and no one could change her mind, not even Grace Wexler. Turtle would now step into Sam Westing's role as game master, and important and successful business man.
