  • The March On Versailles
  • Anger of Women on rise in the price of bread. Angry mob storms Versailles. Enlightenment led people to realize they are being taken advantage of.
  • The Civil Constitution of the Clergy
  • Limited monarchs power. Abolished all old local and provincial divisions. Active citizens (males over 25 who pay taxes equivalent to three days of unskilled labor) could only vote.
  • the Constitution of 1791
  • It created a constitutional monarchy, it restricted the kings power. The idea of people living with freedom is the enlightened idea represented
  • Because the king abandoned Paris for is own safety, angry mobs, consisting of women, attacked Versailles until the king returned to Paris. This is enlightened because you can overthrow the government if it doesn't serve you.
  • The Kings Attempted Escape
  • The civil constitution of the clergy took land from the church. This makes the church an enemy of the revolution.
  • Declaration of War
  • The constitution limited the power of the monarch and gave more power to the legislative assembly. Also, it restricted the right to vote for only men over 25. It is enlightened because it is giving power to the citizens.
  • The Storming of the Tuilerie Palace and Fall of the Legislative Assembly
  • The king felt that he needed foreign help so he fled but eventually was caught and brought back and charged for treason.
  • The royal family wanted to escape danger. They almost reached safety until they were caught by police, and they were arrested. As a result, the royal family was arrested and sentenced to death.
  • French people wanted to spread the revolution to all of Europe which eventually sparked a conflict between France and Austria. It cost money.
  • People were suffering from food deprivation and wars so they stormed the palace. National convention.
