Evidence #3 Charlie accused tommy for being at fault of being an alien
A theme that represents "The monsters are due on Maple Street" is blaming others to find a scapegoat can lead to violence. An example that supports this is that all the residents on Maple Street where suspicous of les goodman and they all started yelling at each other because they assumed that Les was at fault because he had family of four just like Tommy said that the aliens sent over and they just kept yelling at each other saying if this was a gag of some kind. Another reason is when Charlie shoots Pete Van Horn this represents the theme because while they were trying to find a scapegoat they see a dark figure and don comes out with gun and Steve snatches it from don and the Charlie snatches it from Steve and Charlie then shoots the dark figure and when they run up to see who it is they see its Pete van horn . Lastly Charlie accusing Tommy and his mom getting mad represent the this shows violence because Tommy's mom is trying protect her son by arguing the fact that her son is just an innocent child copying what he read in a book. In Conclusion these are the reason why blaming others to find a scapegoat can lead to violence is the main them for "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street".
