  • In Sparta children, both boys and girls, at the age of 7 are taught to fight and steal food!
  • Sparta | Education | Athens
  • Only boys are taught till 7, the age they went to school, the girls work in the house till they marry, then they work in their husband's house.
  • Sparta | Treatment of Women & Slaves | Athens
  • In Sparta, slaves could buy freedom and women lived the same lives as men. Unlike in Athens, women could speak freely.
  • Women in Athens had to run the household and raise/teach their children. The unluckiest slaves had to work in silver mines with little air and no rest.
  • Sparta | Government | Athens
  • We have an oligarchy. The highest ranking people are in the Council of Elders and the Assembly.
  • Every citizen could take part in Athenian government. A group called the Council of 500 met everyday to preform government and suggest new laws.
  • Sparta | Economy | Athens
  • Sparta relies on farming and conquering others. They used iron rods as money instead of coins.
  • Athenians relied on trade. They used coins and one of their coins had the picture of a goddess on it.
