Storyboard Text

  • We must win the battle at Vimy Ridge in order to prove our loyalty to Britain and attempt to gain out independence.
  • We will show the world that Canada is a powerful nation!
  • Let's move soldiers!
  • It was the beginning of World War One and there was no time to waste, Sir Arthur Currie had to prepare his soldiers for war. Although, War was a stressful time for the General as he had many standards and duties to live up to.
  • There is no time to waste soldiers, we must move at a faster pace in order to get there for 0600 hours!
  • The Canadian troops will be the finest in the battle, under Sir Arthur Currie's guidance they will use the creeping barrage method to abolish the Germans, and win the land and help out the Triple Entente.
  • They began the attack at 5:30a.m. on Easter Monday, with the well prepared Canadian troops. They marched to the top of the hill feeling the pressure to succeed and the sorrow of losing fellow soldiers along the way. The General had to put up a brave front because he is the example and leader of his troop.
  • This experience was gruesome and will reside in my memory forever, I am glad the battle is over.
  • They advanced through the deep, muddy trenches. They ensured to follow the General's every command and stay out of any steep and slippery areas that may have been caused by the rain.
  • They were able to advance to the German side where all of their hard work, preparation and effort went into defeating the Germans and claiming their land. This was the most stressful part for the General.
  • This was a great victory for Canada, being that it was the first time they were seen as a powerful nation that had to endure the depths of the trenches, agony of loses and the success of a new war strategy.
