  • When he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge.
  • Why most certainly, only I would know of it's true value.
  • Rising Action #1
  • I need your opinion on my Amontillado. Will you interject?
  • Rising Action #2
  • We must continue forward.
  • As the story begins Montresor is introduced and he explains his plans for revenge on Fortunato. Fortunato insulted Montresor and he vowed his revenge.
  • Climax
  • Let us be gone
  • Montresor uses Fortuanto's arrogant behavior against him. By leading him to the Amontillado he could continue his plan of trickery.
  • Falling Action
  • The second rising action was Montresor leading Fortunato to the vaults and persuading him to move forward in the journey.
  • Resolution
  • It was the perfect crime
  • The climax in the story is when Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall of the catacombs. Now Fortunato realizes this is no longer a joke and Montresor is getting his ultimate revenge.
  • As Montresor places the last brick in the wall and walks away he screams ¨Fortunato¨ and all he hears are the jingles from the bells on his hat. It was done.
  • FORTUNATO!
  • Fifty years later Montresor tells his story as ¨the perfect crime" and reflecting on what he did and why he did it.
