Storyboard Text

  • September 17, 1925 Frida Kahlo fractured her spine and pelvis when the handrail of a bus went into her hip when travleing on a bus  that collided with another vehicle
  • After 35 surgeries, extreme pain, finding out she couldn't have kids, and being immobile for three months Kahlo abandoned the idea of studying medice and began her painting career.
  • 4 years after her accident, Frida married muralist Diego Rivera. He was 42 and she was 22.
  • People called them 'the Elephant and the Dove' based on their size differences.
  • Frida and Diego constantly had affairs with other people. Kahlo had one with Leon Trotsky and actress Josephine Baker
  • In 1939 the two divorced after Frida found out Diego had an affair with Kahlo's younger sister. They remarried a year later, however.
  • In 1954, age 47, Frida Kahlo died in the same home she was born in. Her house 'the Blue House' became a museum housing her work
  • Frida Kahlo inspires me because she was a strong person. I mean, a handrail through the hip! 35 surgeries! That's crazy. Not only that but her artwork was amazing!
