Storyboard Text

  • ok gentleman now that that's been settled time to move on to our next topic, should slaves should be counted in representation in the government, opinions?
  • down in the south we think slaves should be counted like everyone else.
  • well up north we think they're property but you know hey if you wanna be like that just give them citizenship and the right to vote why don't ya?
  • gentlemen gentlemen please calm down, i have the solution, every slave will be counted as 3/5 of a person.
  • Another topic discussed was how slaves would be represented in the government when counting population.
  • YOU'RE WRONG!
  • People in the south wanted slaves to count as people because they had a lot of slaves, but up north people believed slaves were property that could be taxed like any other piece of property.
  • 600 PAGES!!
  • i can't wait to leave this room
  • ok gentlemen time to sign our new constitution.
  • To fix this problem they decided that each slave would be counted as three-fifths of a person, or every three out of five slaves would count.
  • thank god im free
  • After all the changes were made signing the new constitutions was a tough decision. The federalists wanted to sign it, but the anti-federalists were worried that it gave the government too much power, they wanted a bill of rights.
  • Finally they decided to sign the new constitution and they made a bill of rights as well. James Madison ended up taking around 600 pages of notes, thanks to him we know exactly what happened at the constitution convention.
  • As you can imagine everyone was ready to leave, but thanks to those gentlemen our county was on its way to where we are today.
