- HIGH STREET
- MATTIE is baking with ELIZA in the kitchen of the coffee shop. NATHANIEL is seated, thinking on a stool. (Wide shot)
- NATHANIEL has a good idea & suggests painting a sign to put out front of the coffee shop to bring in more business. MATTIE agrees with him. (Two shot)
- MATTIE says goodbye as NATHANIEL walks out of the kitchen to go to work.
- MATTIE focuses with her hand cupping her ear. She hears music and a crowd cheering in the distance. (Close up)
- NATHANIEL walks outside to a cheering crowd. PRESIDENT WASHINGTON rides into town on horseback on High Street. NATHANIEL can't believe his eyes. (Wide shot)
- NATHANIEL busts through the door to tell MATTIE and ELIZA to come outside to High Street quick. (Medium shot)
- NATHANIEL runs back outside with MATTIE. There are carriages on the street bringing all the rich townspeople home. (Wide shot)
- MATTIE sees her MOM in the last carriage and runs to greet her & hug her. (Zoom in)
- MATTIE and her MOM are catching up with each other in the coffee shop kitchen. (Over the shoulder)
- It’s the next day, MATTIE is sitting on the steps of the coffee shop watching the sunrise with a content look on her face. (Zoom into her face) - Fade to black.
