Babies produce the same types of responses between objects and people Have no preferences with people Rapidly learn to discriminate familiar people from unfamiliar people
Babies become more socially able and can tell people apart. Have a preference for people over objects Normally do not show fear of strangers or seperation anxiety Do not show a preference for specific people- Their behaviour is indiscriminate because it is not shown to be any different for any specific person.
Around 7 months of age Show seperation anxiety and stranger anxiety Formed a specifc, primary attachment to one particular individual (the person that best understands their signals) Use familiar adults as a secure base

Follow soon after the first attachment is made Show attachment behaviours towards several people eg: siblings, grandparents, childminders By 18 months of age Fear of strangers response starts to weaken
