Deep in the Dreadful Wilds, there is a Griffin longing to see what he looks like. He hears there is a nearby town with a statue in his likeness.
When the Griffin arrives at the town, the people of the town cower in their homes. They're afraid of the Griffin so they send the Minor Canon to speak with him. The Minor Canon agrees to take him to see the statue the next day.
The Griffin admires the statue of himself for a very long time. He is so pleased with it that he begins a routine within the town that starts with him staring at the statue.
The people of the town are upset with the Griffin staying. They send the Minor Canon off, in hopes the Griffin would follow him since the Griffin took a great likeness in the Minor Canon.
The Griffin is unaware that the Minor Canon was sent away and starts to take up his responsibilities around the town. This included teaching the misbehaving children of the town.
An old man in the town accidentally exposes to the Griffin where they sent the Minor Canon off to. The Griffin is outraged and tells them he will be back.
