  • I hear them up ahead.
  • EVERYBODY GET DOWN. I HEAR THEM!!!!!
  • THE KANSAS NEBRASKA ACT
  • STATES RIGHTS
  • The dispute over slavery help cause the Civil war because of the fugitive slave act. The act states that if a slave escape from the south to the north, the north has return them back to there owner.
  • THE DRED SCOTT TRAIL
  • This compromise was created to less tension between the northerners and southerners. It allowed citizens in the territories to vote on whether they wanted to be free or a slave state. This act also canceled out all the other compromises.
  • NULLIFICATION CRISIS
  • The north and south differed on the concept of States ' Rights because the northerners believed that in order to function as a union all states need to follow the same rules set forth by the president. The south believed in more state authority.
  • COMPROMISE OF 1850
  • This caused the dispute or slavery to intensify because laws regarding slavery were passed at local, state and federal levels that caused much dissension between the two regions.
  • the economic differences caused sectionalism. Sectionalism is when you believe your from a region.South Carolina treated to secede from the union causing the nullification crisis. The south was mad because they were getting taxed left and right. A compromise made to lower the tariffs was made and settled the differences. The south wanted low tariffs and the north wanted high ones.
  • We want high taxes and we are going to make you pay.
  • No stop, I'm not going to pay these . I'm leaving the union.
  • Georgia approved the compromise of 1850 called The Georgia platform. The election of1860 eventually caused the south to secede.
