Storyboard Description

This short story strip modernizes the traditional fairy tale of Rapunzel. In this story, Rapunzel has been trapped inside her home ever since she was born, due to her anxious helicopter mom. All Rapunzel wants is a normal teenage life! That's when she decides to use the ladder... How will she sneak out after 16 years of being confined to the house? How will she avoid her hovering mother?

Storyboard Text

  • On 108 Baker Street, there lives a young girl named Rapunzel. This beautiful girl is loved so dearly by her helicopter of a mom. Her mom, the most anxious women in the town, decided from the day her daughter was born, that she was to be kept inside her home, safe from the dangerous world.
  • Absolutely NO TRESPASSING!
  • Outside in the dark? Ooh I don't know Rapunzel. I think you'd better stay inside.
  • Mom can I please go outside just this once to study the stars? I'll stay in the yard!
  • After much convincing, Rapunzel's mother finally agrees to let her outside... with a few rules of course.
  • Fine! But you have to bring a flashlight! ... and wear bug spray! ... and stay within 20 feet of the house at all times! ... and you can only stay out for 2 hours!
  • Wow thanks mom you're the best!!
  • my mom totally fell 4 it. meet u by the fence. prty time!
  • Rapunzel runs downstairs and discreetly pulls out her secret Walmart phone that her neighbor across the street delivered to her- she sends her a text.
  • Sweet! You actually made it out!!
  • Shh!! Hurry let's go!
  • Rapunzel and Jenna sneak off to the party.
  • RAPUNZEL! I knew I'd find you hear. You think you're so sneaky with your phone. Well I knew and had a tracker installed!
  • From then on, Rapunzel knew never to try and go behind her mother's back. Moral of the story- never underestimate the power of a helicopter mom.
