Day starts at the door. Greet each student letting them know you care about the them
Good morning Jane! How was your weekend? Sam, did you have fun at your softball game? Miguel, I love your new haircut?
Students have an assigned space that 'belongs' to them. They know the routine of the morning arrival and can confidently start out each day knowing what is expected of them right at the start.
Rules for ourcommunity of learners.
Respect is taught to the students and then repeated modeled by the teacher. Class rules include how to respect others that mistakes are O.K.!
Class schedule is posted and followed. Instruction time is clear, motivating, and students understand why the lesson will be of benefit to them
Teacher moving around class ensuring students are demonstrating they understand, answering questions and encouraging their efforts
Encourage free play, creativity and building appropriate socialization skills. Making sure to recognizing the efforts of the students at the end of each day.
