Equality Means Equal for All.
Dr. King Wants to show how the African-American community is being treated as outsiders
He says, " As the weeks unfolded, we realized that we were the victims of a broken promise." He also stated " Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider.
This proves that Martin Luther King Jr. and the African-American community felt as those they didn't belong. They were treated as if they were outsiders in the United States even though they lived there.
Segregation is Unconstitutional.
I deserve the Same rights as the White Americans get. The constitution says I'm equal to white. All men under god are created equal but I'm not treated equal.
Color Shouldn't Matter
Segregation separated the community of Blacks and Whites causing outrage and protest from the black community. They wanted to be equal and free but they were restricted by the Jim Crow Laws.
In the 1960's, the Jim Crow Laws segregated whites and blacks from the same facilities. Blacks saw this as unconstitutional because it made the blacks feel as if they didnt belong.
IN a Country that all should be equal, blacks and whites should be able to share political beliefs and should also be able to have a conversation or a meeting without any problems.
